英語を語順で理解できるようにするトレーニング法



日本語と英語は語順が違います。そのため、英語の理解にはこの語順の違いを克服することが不可欠となります。

そこで今回では、英語を語順のまま理解するためのトレーニング法を紹介したいと思います。まずは以下の写真を見て英文を作ってみてくださいね。

この写真には「階段のそばに女性が座っている」「本を読んでいる」「バッグをひざの上に乗せている」の3つの情報があるとしましょう。

これらを組み合わせて一つの文章を作っていくのです。

 

・The woman is sitting.

・The woman is sitting beside the stairs.

・The woman is sitting beside the stairs reading a book.

 

The woman is sitting beside the stairs reading a book with a bag on her lap.

(女性はひざにバッグを乗せ、本を読みながら階段の横に座っています)

 

このように、少しずつ文を長くしながら文を読んでいく、若しくは作っていくトレーニングを積み重ねていきましょう!

 

 


 

・Boys and girls are boarding the bus.

・They are boarding the bus in line.

・They are boarding the bus in line on the street.

「訳し上げ」という言葉があります。これは英文和訳のとき、後ろの方を先に訳すやり方です。この方法は「書き言葉」では通用しますが、「話し言葉」では通用しません。

日本人には、義務教育下での学習法が骨の髄まで染みついており、「訳し上げ」の習慣からなかなか抜け出しにくい状態にあります。この悪習から脱却すべく、以下でもう少しだけトレーニングしていきましょう!

 

繰り返し繰り返し行えば、長い英文も英語の語順のまま理解できるようになりますので、根気よく続けてくださいね♡

 

 


・私はショッピングに行ったの

・I went shopping.   (ダウンタウンに)

・I went shopping downtown.

 

 


・その男は慌てて逃げたよ

・The man sped away.   (車で)

・The man sped away in his car.

 

 


・猫が大きな犬を追いかけていたよ

・A cat was chasing a big dog.   (私の家の前で)

・A cat was chasing a big dog in front of my house.

 

 


・子供たちは歌を歌った

・The children sang a song.   (ピアノに合わせて)

・The children sang a song with the piano.

 

 


・お父さんは手を洗わなかったよ

・Dad didn’t wash his hands.  (夕食前に)

・Dad didn’t wash his hands before eating dinner.

 

 


・テーブルが空いてます

・A table is empty.   (窓際の)

・A table is empty by the window.   (4人分の席が)

・A table is empty by the window for 4 people.

 

 


・私はシャワーを浴びます

・I take a shower.   (毎朝朝食前に)

・I take a shower before breakfast every morning.  (目を覚ますため)

・I take a shower before breakfast every morning to wake myself up.

 

 


・雨が降り出したんだ

・It started to rain.   (だからその公園から帰ってきたんだよ)

・It started to rain, so we left the park.

 

 


・君の作ってくれた夕食はとても美味しかったよ

・Your dinner was very delicious.   (だから、ちょっと食べ過ぎたかなー)

・Your dinner was very delicious, so I’m afraid I ate too much.

 

 


・急ごう

・We need to hurry.   (でなきゃ、最終電車に乗り遅れるよ)

・We need to hurry, or we’ll miss the last train.

 

 


・私は映画館に行った

・I went to the theater.   (そして、とても混んでいると思った)

・I went to the theater, and I expected it to be very crowded.   (でも、そうではなかった)

・I went to the theater, and I expected it to be very crowded, but it wasn’t.

 

 


・私はパーティに時間通りに着いたよ

・I arrived at the party on time.   (しかし他のみんなは遅れたんだよ)

・I arrived at the party on time, but everyone else was late.   (だから居心地が悪かったんだ)

・I arrived at the party on time, but everyone else was late, so I felt uncomfortable.

 

 


・彼女はケーキを焼くだろうよ

・She will bake a cake.   (あるいはスープを作るかな)

・She will bake a cake, or she may make soup.   (なぜなら彼女はレシピをたくさん知っているから)

・She will bake a cake, or she may make soup, for she knows a lot of recipes.
